David Belyavskiy will miss Euros

The Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation representative has announced during an Instagram stream, that David Belyavskiy will miss the upcoming European Championships. This comes after the news that Belyavskiy withdrew from the Russian championships that start tomorrow.

Belyavskiy had a wrist injury and some unexplained illness earlier this year which caused him to miss a lot of training. In an interview with Andrey Telitsyn, Belyavskiy said he asked not to compete at nationals because he was clearly not ready. His original plan was to work on adding upgrades on pommel horse and parallel bars and unveil them at nationals, but at the beginning of the last training camp, he had some abnormal test results during a medical checkup. He spent several days in the hospital but the doctors found no cause for those results. In addition to missing training due to that hospital stay and extra tests, he was rehabbing a wrist injury. Two weeks ago, he still hoped to be ready in time for Euros but, apparently, the recovery took longer than expected.
