Flávia Saraiva: I hope nothing will stop me until 2020

Flávia Saraiva talked to Torcedores.com about returning to training after a back injury. The translation from Portuguese is brought to you by Clara Silva.

Flávia Saraiva is back. After having to take time off to recover from a back injury, the gymnast is training again. She attended a training camp organized by the Brazilian Gymnastics Federation (CBG) in the headquarters of Team Brazil.

Flavia did all four apparatuses, showing she’s fully recovered. Her goal now is to put the issues form 2017 behind and focus on the 2020 Olympics.

“I’m all done with the medical treatment. It lasted for five months and I’m doing much better. Thank God. I started training again in 2018 and hope that nothing will stop me until 2020. I’m hoping for no more injuries like the one I had and for everything to go well. I’m very happy. I’m doing all my skills on all four apparatuses.”

She still doesn’t know when she’ll be competing throughout the year but is aiming for the World Championships taking place in Doha in October, which will be one of the qualifiers for the Olympics. Flavia dreams of getting some medals and has some surprises in her floor routine.

“I’m looking forward to competing again because I didn’t compete much last year and I want to show the new skills I have. I am very excited. I watched the girls competing at Worlds last year on TV and I wanted to be there with them. But I’m strong this year and we will all be there this time.”

“I want to improve my routines, maybe get a medal at Worlds. And get the classification for the Olympics, because its possible to do so already this year. I’ll do everything I can to achieve these goals.”
