This year was quite successful for Dmitrii Lankin – he made the team for European and World Championships for the first time and won gold and silver in the team finals respectively. On those teams, he competed on floor, rings, and vault but he’s trying to become competitive in the all-around in order to make the four-person Olympic team. He finished his season at the Voronin Cup by winning bronze in AA and on rings.
Lankin said to R-Sport:
“I competed in the all-around for the first time in the past year. [Throughout the year], I specialized in “my” events because I needed to make the team for the European and World Championships. I wasn’t required to do AA for now, but we qualified to the Olympics and the team format at the Olympics is four people. So, if I want to go to the Olympics, I need to train all-around”.
“The first competition was without fall, it’s a very good result. I’ve done all four events for the first time this year, and without falls, and I also managed to get into the top-3, that’s amazing! Of course, I could’ve competed better and wasn’t perfect. I only did a full routine on pommel horse a week ago. Today was my second time, so it was important not to fall. I made some mistakes on rings and on vault, I could’ve added everywhere”.
