Melnikova: The medal on bars brought me the most joy

Angelina Melnikova sometimes says that bars are the event she worries the most or where she often has issues in training but in competition, it’s one of her best events and she keeps winning medals to prove it. She won bronze on bars at the European Championships in 2018 and silver – in 2019. She said that while the bronze in AA was more important for her, since it was her first medal in the all-around at a major competition, she was more happy about the medal on bars:

“It was the medal that brought me the most joy because bars don’t always work out for me.”

On floor, former champion won bronze but could’ve won silver if not for stepping out of bounds:

“Today, I got a three-tenth deduction because I stepped out of bounds with both feet on my first pass. I’m sad about this. I’m happy that I managed to win three medals here but I could’ve done better. I’m especially upset about the beam in the all-around. If I managed to do everything on this event, I would’ve placed higher”.
