Valeri Alfosov, the head coach of the men’s national team, told TASS that Nikita Ignatyev had to withdraw from Russian Championships because of shoulder pain:
“His shoulder started hurting and we decided to withdraw Nikita from this competition. The main competition of this season will be in the fall and we have time till then to treat him. We don’t discount him and hope that Ignatyev will come back literally in the near future. Now we’ll be waiting for him at the Russian Cup which will be the final selection stage for the European and World Championships. He has to compete there if he wants to go to Glasgow and Qatar”.
