Oleg Verniaiev: My goal is to compete at Worlds

Oleg Verniaiev who is still recovering from his surgeries said to Sport.ua that his main goal right now is to be ready by Worlds in order to help his team make top-24 and get into the next stage of Olympic qualification:

“[my health] is better now, it’s been 6 months [since the surgeries], I can work at full strength. I need to get everything moving, to shake it so that everything would become fully mobile again. I am doing everything I can. Right now it’s like that: it’s better on one day, then it’s worse on the next two days. But in general, every day the situation is improving. I’m pushing ahead, I want to come back and compete as soon as possible”.

“My goal is to compete at the World Championships. I must do anything but get there. It’s the Olympic qualification. If I won’t be there, my team will be walking on the edge of the blade. If there will be a lot of mistakes, the team risks not making the top-24 and getting out of the preparation [for the Olympics]. It’s not in my interests, so I have to prepare and show a high level”.
