Oleg Verniaiev posted a post-surgery photo on his Instagram. Earlier, his coach said that the leg injury has been bothering the gymnast since before the Olympics and he has torn a ligament in his shoulder this year. According to Sartynsky, Verniaiev will have to take a full year off in order to recover properly. It appears that in the photo Verniaiev has both of his legs in casts, despite that Sartynsky only talked about two surgeries, so there might have been more injuries that required attention besides the two that were disclosed.
UPD: As Emma pointed out, Verniaiev’s right leg is not in a cast, it’s a compression stocking to prevent clots, so it means that he had only two surgeries, just as was planned.
