Tatiana Nabieva is attending a national team camp

Tatiana Nabieva, the queen of retiring and unretiring, seems to be fully back now as she has been invited to Round Lake to participate at the national team camp.

Last year, Nabieva was able to come back after a wrist injury and eager to earn her way back to the national team. It also seemed a very likely scenario. She placed 12th in all-around at the Russian Championships and won bronze on vault, she planned adding multiple upgrades (including a Cheng on vault) and then placed 5th in AA at the Russian Cup and won vault there. Nevertheless, she was not invited to training camps and or to the European Championships selection group even thought some gymnasts who placed lower than her were. The decision to leave her off the national team was especially confusing as Russia has been struggling on vault last year and even had to count a FTY in the team final at Worlds. Nabieva did not comment on the situation publicly but she stopped training altogether right after the Russian Cup.

However, this year she started training again about a month before the Russian Championships and managed to place 7th in AA and take bronze on vault. It seems that the national team coaches are finally reconsidering their decision regarding Nabieva as this week, she finally went back to Round Lake to take part in a training camp.

She posted on Instagram: “Unexpectedly for me, I was allowed to train with the Russian national team. Of course, I’m tired after these two days but I’ll definitely get in shape and become better. For now, I’m still like jelly. But the first step was taken, I’m at the training center, with my girls.”

Earlier, Nabieva said that her big goal for this year was to represent Russia at the Summer Universiade in July.
