Alexeeva: The hardest thing was to control my nerves

In less than a year, WOGA’s Irina Alexeeva went from not being on any national team to being a silver World medalist and a European champion. She proved she can hit when it counts and Russia sorely needed someone with her consistency. Alexeeva said to R-Sport that she is actually quite nervous during the competition and hopes to learn how to calm herself down:

“I haven’t expected things to turn out this way when I came back to Russia, but I’ve been training a lot and it’s really good to compete with such a team. And I’m really happy I won a medal today! The hardest thing was to control my nerves and the most important was to do what I usually do in training. And that’s it. Actually, I was really nervous. I need to learn how to calm myself down, to say that everything will be fine. And I kept telling that to myself last night”.
