All Olympia finalizes a settlement with Mattie Larson

By Mari Ilona Szutenberg
All Olympia Gymnastics Center in Hawthorne CA has finalized a $1 million settlement with 2010 World medallist Mattie Larson.
Larson filed a lawsuit against AOGC and its directors, Artur Akopyan and Galina Marinova, claiming that the “abusive, harassing and degrading environment” at the gym led to a situation of secrecy which enabled Larry Nassar, the former USAG national team doctor, to sexually assault her. USA Gymnastics, along with former national team directors Bela and Marta Karolyi, was also cited in the lawsuit.
In June 2018 Akopyan and Marinova agreed to pay £1 million to Larson, and the settlement has now been finalized.
All Olympia, just before announcing its closure on November 5th, itself filed suit against Nassar, USAG, the U.S. Olympic Committee, and Michigan State, alleging “breach of contract and fiduciary duty and failure to protect USA Gymnastics members from known dangers”.
