Amy Tinkler withdrew from Commonwealth Games due to an ankle injury

It seems that British women’s gymnastics just can’t catch a break this year. First, Downie sisters both withdrew from competitions in order because of not yet making a full recovery. Then, Claudia Fragapane tore her Achilles in training. And now Amy Tinkler caught the curse at the Birmingham Cup this week. Originally, Ellie Downie and Claudia Fragapane were supposed to compete there but after getting injured they were replaced by Amy Tinkler and Alice Kinsella. Tinkler injured her ankle during the warm-up and was taken out of the arena in a wheelchair. According to British Gymnastics, the scans revealed that Tinkler has torn ankle ligaments and will have to miss Commonwealth Games. It is not clear yet whether she will recover in time for the Euros in August.
