Kazakhstan’s Andrey Lungul has been banned for two years by Kazakhstan’s anti-doping authority after he tested positive for furosemide.
Lungul has been a member of up-and-coming Kazakhstan’s men team and won gold on rings and vault at the 2018 national championships. He was on the brink of making major international teams and could have been a good reserve option if anyone on the main team got injured, especially since Kazakhstan is trying to qualify a full team to the Tokyo Olympics.
This is the second time a gymnast from Kazakhstan recieved a doping ban this month – last week, an Asian champion in rhythmic gymnastics Selina Zhumatayeva was banned for four years after she has also tested positive for furosemide.
