Aneta Holasova: This medal will give me more confidence

Besides the usual medal favorites like Russia, Great Britain or France, many new countries ended up on a medal podium at the European Games. Aneta Holasova, a standout gymnast from the Czech Republic, was able to win silver in the floor final. For Holasova, this is her first medal at a major international competition and she was overwhelmed after the competition:

“I didn’t expect the medal, I hoped for it, it was my dream. The gymnasts in the final were quite close to each other, so it wasn’t like one would absolutely win. But I tried to focus just on my routine and not on what could happen. Now I’m really happy, it’s just unbelievable.”

“When I saw, before the Belorussian girl went up, I knew I would not place lower than third because she was the last one and I was already in second place. So, that was like “oh my god, I could get a medal”. And when she finished in fourth, and I was the second, that felt just amazing. I think this medal will definitely give me more confidence and a great feeling. I’m so happy.”

“The competition was quite similar to the European Championships but this was maybe even better because the atmosphere and the crowd felt awesome. It was so nice and I enjoyed every routine that I performed here.”
