Ashton Locklear plans to return to competition next month

Ashton Locklear has announced in an interview to Gym&News that next month she will compete for the first time since the 2017 Worlds.

Locklear had a shoulder injury during the bars final at Worlds and had to undergo surgery. Following the surgery, she moved to World Champions Center to train alongside Simone Biles with Laurent and Cecile Landi. Then, in summer of 2018, Locklear dislocated her knee and ended up having knee surgery.

While Locklear did not name the competition she planned on entering, it will likely be the Biles International Invitational on February, 14-17. The gymnast said she will compete on floor for the first time in her senior career. Last time she competed on floor was in 2013. Following a back injury, she focused on bars and beam.

Locklear is not currently on the national team and has not been invited to camps since 2017, so coming back to competition will be her chance to get a camp invitation.
