Caterina Cereghetti suffers elbow injury

By Mary Ilona Szutenberg

Caterina Cereghetti of Italy suffered an elbow injury after she fell on a Jaeger while training bars today, taking her out of competition in Doha.
This is not the first injury on the Italian Worlds team, as Francesca Noemi Linari, who was on the nominative roster, was forced to withdraw from the competition after an injury sustained during training on October 3rd.
The Italian national team has had more than its fair share of bad luck, injury-wise: vaulter Sofia Busato is still in recovery after tearing her ACL in Glasgow this summer, Desiree Carofiglio is still recovering from knee surgery in June, Giada Grisetti injured her elbow in September and Martina Maggio is still rehabbing June’s patella injury.
In their absence, the Italian team in Qatar will be composed of Irene Lanza, Lara Mori, Sara Ricciardi, Martina Rizzelli and Martina Basile.
Italy should still have no problem qualifying to the next year’s World Championships but they definitely have no chance of making the team final.
