The organizing committee of the 2023 Summer Universiade in Yekaterinburg has announced that David Belyavskiy will be on the ambassadors of the competition. Belyavskiy, who’s originally from Votkinsk, moved to Yekaterinburg in his early teens for better training facilities and has been residing there ever since.
Belyavskiy competed at the summer Universiade the last time Russia hosted it, in Kazan in 2013. He won gold with the Russian team, silver on parallel bars, and bronze in AA and on floor. Belyavskiy will not be eligible for the 2023 competition, but Russia can be expected to send very strong teams to a home competition again, like they did in 2013.
