David Belyavskiy won gold at Stuttgart World Cup

David Belyavskiy broke the unlucky streak for Russia at Stuttgart winning the all-around at the World Cup by more than a point over Akash Modi.

Yesterday’s competition in Stuttgart didn’t go so well for the Russian gymnasts with the women’s team becoming fifth and not qualifying to the team final and the men’s team finishing the qualification in second place after counting several falls and large mistakes.

Today David Belyavskiy competed cleanly and confidently at the all-around cup. Despite the downgraded vault and rings routines, he smoothly sailed through the competition while his main competitors made several mistakes. Tanaka Yusuke of Japan finished third.

Brinn Bevan who just recently won the British Championships decided not to compete today because his coach Scott Hann had an emergency dental surgery.

The women’s AA competition will take place tomorrow at 12:30 local time. Tune in for the live stream to see if Angelina Melnikova will follow Belyavskiy’s suit.
