Denis Abliazin will miss Melbourne World Cup

Denis Abliazin missed the World Championships in order to be eligible to qualify an individual spot to Tokyo via World Cup Series. He was scheduled to compete in Cottbus, at the first competition of the series, however, he scratched last minute due to an injury. Recently, he traveled to Munich together with Aliya Mustafina for a check-up and was medically cleared to train.

Abliazin told TASS:

“I skipped the World Cup [in Cottbus] because of neck and wrist injuries, so I withdrew due to the health issues. Now I’m almost completely recovered, I just need to get back into the top physical shape and I can compete”.

However, the gymnast said he won’t be able to prepare in time for the Melbourne World Cup in February and didn’t provide a definite date for his comeback.
