Dmitrii Lankin won bronze on vault at the European Championships but said to the media that he didn’t expect to win a medal there:
“I had to gather all my emotions and pour them out in the vault final. The yesterday’s gold in the team final raised my spirits, I started having thoughts that anything’s possible. Honestly, I didn’t expect this. In order to get onto the medal podium, I had to vault perfectly and I almost did it. Some competitors made mistakes, so it all happened in a way to allow me to get onto the medal podium”.
Lankin also talked about adding some upgrades on vault and rings:
“I’ll change the rings dismount, it will be different, because, with the current dismount, I don’t feel the landing that well. The new dismount will be more difficult, actually. Mainly, I’ll work on consistency, there won’t be a lot of upgrades. I’ll learn a harder vault so that I can fight for the medals at Worlds as well, but the rest of the routines will stay the same”.
