Artem Dolgopyat has announced he will have to miss the Maccabiah Games (which double as the Israeli Championships) next week due to an injury:
“Unfortunately, this time I have not very good news – I will miss the upcoming Maccabiah and Israeli Championships because I got diagnosed with a foot injury. After a week of pain and tests, I was diagnosed with a fracture and will not be able to participate in the upcoming competitions. Unfortunately, this is the worst possible timing but I am looking ahead and will do ev erything possible in order to be ready for the European Championships in Munich.”
Dolgopyat has already qualified to the World Championships in Liverpool as the winner of the World Cup series on floor, thus, he can potentially rest until then and skip Euros. However, he will likely push his recovery in order to help the Israeli MAG team qualify to Worlds – if they have a chance to qualify as a team, they need Dolgopyat’s scores on most of the events.
