Elena Eremina who won AA bronze and bars silver at the 2017 World Championships had her career negatively affected by health issues. After her back surgery, she tried to get back to her previous level and was on the national team in 2019 and 2020. However, training loads at Round Lake aggravated her injuries and in the end of 2020, she said she was going to keep training and competing at the club level. She was not place on the 2021 national team roster.
In 2021, she competed at the Russian Championships but decided to skip the Russian Cup in order to recover and focus on her health.
Her personal coach Vera Kiryashova told TASS that Eremina is now back to training and hopes to get back to the national team level:
“Lena needed to take a break in order to reset herself. She resumed training now in order to compete at the high level again in the future.”
