Eremina: It’s more interesting to compete with the seniors

Elena Eremina will compete in the all-around final at Worlds today. Eremina is a first-year senior and so far her senior career has been going pretty well: she was 4th in AA at Euros and won silver on bars there. At Worlds, she qualified to the all-around, beam and bars finals and got the highest score of the day on bars. Just before leaving for Montreal, Eremina talked to MatchTV about competing as a senior and her expectations from Worlds:

“I like this competition more. It’s more interesting to compete with seniors. Well, they’re older, their routines are more interestig, too. I can’t say that I added difficulty after the Euros, but my routines are cleaner now, I think. Competitions, whether they’re in America or Japan, the girls are the same. Just the name’s different – World Championhips, but it’s just a normal competition. I need to not overthink it and just do my routines.

After the qualifications, Emin Garibov noted that Eremina is a very consistent competitor and can become the national team leader eventually:

“She’s been doing very well at a few competitions already. She competed at the Russian Championships quite well. At Euros, she won silver on bars and she’s making large steps on her way to the team leadership. Her routines are great, very competitive, and she has great chances here”.
