European Championships canceled

European Gymnastics Federation has announced the official cancellation of both men’s and women’s European Championships. The WAG Euros were supposed to take place in Paris from April 30 to May 3 and they were expected to be canceled after the situation with the pandemic deteriorated in France and all mass gatherings were canceled. Azerbaijan, the host of the MAG Euros, continued business as usual for a while and even hosted a World Cup competition last week. However, the competition was cut short and the finals were canceled after the government declared a state of emergency.

The European Federation said they are currently in talks with the hosts regarding rescheduling the competitions for the second half of the year. This means the competitions will not be able to serve as a part of the Olympic qualification and the spots will be redistributed among Worlds competitors. The federation clarified that they asked the FIG to give those spots only to European competitors.
