Vladimir Kochnev, Ivan Stretovich’s coach, told TASS that the gymnast is currently preparing for the Russian Championships that will take place in April. According to Kochnev, Stretovich is not yet back at his top shape and they still limit the training load in order to not cause additional injury to his wrist:
“Vanya has already started competing all-around, he won at the Novosibirsk Regional Championships and at the Siberian Regional Championships. on March 25 he and I are going to the training camp at Round Lake. His whole preparation is aimed at a good performance at Russian Championships in April and only then we’ll start thinking about international competitions”.
“I can’t say yet that he has completely recovered from his injury. I’m still protecting him from large training loads. The head coach of the national team, Andrey Rodionenko, also asks not to speed up his preparation. Nobody wants to lose a gymnast who has been recovering for a long time”.
