Kohei Uchimura’s all-around winning streak at Worlds was broken last year in Montreal when he was injured during the qualifications and had to withdraw from the competition. He hoped to come back strong at this year’s Worlds but had a minor ankle injury a few weeks ago that still doesn’t allow him to compete on all six events. At today’s podium training Uchimura was seen attempting vault but he ended up limping. The Japanese media later reported that he will only compete on four events and thus will not try to fight for the all-around title this year.
Kohei on rings now. Azarian Maltese. Back uprise Maltese, Cross. Pike and tuck Yamis to a whip it to cross. A little low on the landing… and he’s limping a little off the podium. Yikes.
