Viktoriia Listunova qualified to the floor final in second place, behind only her teammate Angelina Melnikova. However, in the final, on the last day of her debut senior international competition, she was unable to deliver a clean routine and placed 7th. She told MatchTV, she was also affected by the injury of Carolann Heduit who competed just before her.
Q: Vika, why are you crying, what happened?
A: I’m upset by my performance on floor.
Q: But you have the gold from the all-around, isn’t that enough to make you realize you’ve done a good job?
A: On one hand, yes. But we really wanted to get a medal on floor today and something clearly went wrong.
Q: Were you tired?
A: I don’t even know how to explain it. It happened very suddenly. I really wanted it but in the end, let’s say, I wasn’t able to do anything.
Q: After the all-around final, you said that you had some issues on floor – in the qualification, you went out of bounds, while in the AA final it was the opposite, you under-rotated. Perhaps, you weren’t completely ready or was everything fine in training?
A: I don’t even know how to explain it, it’s the first time this happened to me. Perhaps, this was supposed to happen, God decided that I need to make mistakes in order to show better results at bigger and more important competitions. This is also an experience. I competed without a touch warm-up today, it was a bit scary and stressful, because you don’t know how things will go, and, I guess, they didn’t go right. The French gymnast competed before me, she got injured and wasn’t able to finish her routine, so I was also a bit scared.
Q: What’s next?
A: The Russian Cup and the Olympics. I really hope I’ll make the team.
