Maria Paseka has received full medical clearance to train and compete. Paseka underwent a back surgery last December and started training again in May. She’s been training on three events and even posted a video of herself doing an Amanar into a pit.
During the Voronin Cup, Paseka announced on her Instagram that she was finally medically cleared and hopes to start competing soon: “I attended the Voronin Cup today. And I realized that I can’t just sit in the stands and watch others compete. The adrenaline and the excitement of fighting for the first place do not let me leave the sport. I want to achieve the goal I set. And then to leave the sport beautifully. I got the clearance to train and compete. Thank you for your support, thanks to it I was able to not give up and to achieve my first goal – to get the medical clearance. And now the most interesting stuff is starting”.
Maria Paseka plans to qualify to Tokyo individually via World Cups (although she is currently training three events with the hope of making the Olympic team). She had to miss the first World Cup of the qualification series but, according to Valentina Rodionenko, will participate in the second World Cup in Melbourne.
