Angelina Melnikova often says that bars are the hardest event for her, even though she is the European Games champion and double European medalist on this event. She made the final on uneven bars at the World Championships for the first time this year and felt very proud of her fourth-place finish:
“I’m really-really happy. It’s the first time I made the bars final at the World Championships. This even is very hard for me, it’s hard for me to train. I’m really happy that I managed to do my full difficulty and, I think, my execution was not bad at all. I’m happy that I placed fourth, it’s pretty amazing, it’s a great result for me.”
Her main goal was to have her full difficulty and she did not expect to be so close to the medal podium:
“I often lose a lot in execution. But I hoped for the best and my goal was to do my full difficulty because I don’t often manage to do it. The goal was accomplished and I tried hard.”
