Melnikova returns to Round Lake next week

Angelina Melnikova said in multiple interviews that she wanted to take a break after Tokyo but the break will not be that long, it seems. She told TASS, she is coming back to Round Lake already next week and might consider training for the upcoming World Championships.

“I plan on coming to the training center on August 26th. For now, I plan to start training but I don’t know how it will go – there’s too little time [until Worlds], only a month, we’ll see. Overall, I would really like to [compete at the Paris Olympics], but I’ll decide based on my health. For now, I will train but I don’t know yet at which level.”

Melnikova noted that she hasn’t yet fully rested after the Olympics.

As a multiple Olympic medalist, Melnikova received significant monetary bonuses from the federal and local governments. When asked about how she plans to spend the money, she said she is considering buying property:

“I don’t know yet, but it’s usually an apartment, a car, helping the family. I’d like my whole family to be comfortably off.”
