The 2017 World all-around champion Morgan Hurd was left off the US Worlds team after making some uncharacteristic mistakes during the selection competition and placing only 9th in the all-around. Hurd has been known for peaking at the right time and making the Worlds team in both 2017 and 2018 despite not the greatest showings during the summer competitions. This time, however, she was not able to achieve that.

Simone Biles
Jade Carey
Kara Eaker
Sunisa Lee
Grace McCallum
MyKayla Skinner
Non-traveling alternates: Morgan Hurd & Leanne Wong
While the selection competition lasted two days and gymnasts competed on two events on the second day, it seems that the selection was done purely by all-around standings. Top-6 in the all-around on the first day made the team and the alternate will be determined after the podium training.
The US Worlds team will be Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee, Jade Carey, Kara Eaker, Grace McCallum, and MyKayla Skinner. Skinner, who competed in NCAA for the University of Utah for three years and only started training elite routines a few months ago, returned to the elite level astonishingly fast and finished fourth in the all-around at the trials. Faith Torrez, a first-year elite who finished 7th, does not yet have an FIG license, thus, she could not be selected for the team. Leanne Wong and Morgan Hurd, 8th and 9th respectively, will be non-travelling alternates.
Simone Biles has earned a spot on the 2019 World Championships Team.

Any potential lineups make this team extremely good on vault, beam, and floor, but the bars lineup leaves to be desired, as they will likely have to count a 13+ score on that event (which would be an amazing bars score for so many countries, but isn’t quite high for the US). It does not really matter, since US will still win the team competition by several points and they have at least two potential event final qualifiers on every event.
Honestly, MyKayla’s Routine is basically like Roadkill. She should have been left off the team
Veronique you seem to be incoherent. Not sure what you are rambling on about with weight. How can you say McCallum is unwatchable if you have never even see her?
Ridiculous comment all around.
An outrage !! Morgan should be with Lee and Eaker. The other American’s dance like snorting oxen. Simone is ok she is strong. Jade and Mikayla are horrid to watch. Even if they lose weight it is still bad to see them. Maybe weight does not matter as much as old coachs act.
Who is Mccallum ?? Also unwatchable it appears.
Classic bullying tirade! Mean spirited, inappropriate, and completely false. Commenting on the weight of these extraordinary athletes is not only astonishingly ignorant, it’s dangerous!
If you don’t have anything nice to say……
Morgan should be on the team! I’m disappointed that she is not!
