Nile Wilson had a neck surgery

Nile Wilson also seems to not be able to catch a break and will have to miss the upcoming competitions after getting surgery to fix a bulging disk in his neck. He got a neck injury about 8 months ago which then prevented him from competing at the European Championships at home. He hoped to compete at Worlds but had a finger injury. Then, two weeks ago his neck injury worsened and he had no choice but to have surgery. Wilson said on Instagram that his recovery would take half a year which means he will miss the upcoming Birmingham World Cup where he was set to compete and yet another European Championships.

Okay so slightly challenging start to 2019🤕.. I’ve struggled with a ongoing neck issue for around 8months. 2 weeks ago I felt something go in training resulting in a very large Disc Bulge , impinging the C7 Nerve & giving me horrendous (constant) pain… With ‘THE BEST’ team & people around me we came to the decision to operate & resolve the issue. We felt this would give me the best chance & opportunity in achieving my dreams in gymnastics & competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics… The Rehabilitation is usually 6 months back to full impact & with THE BEST science & medical support I can ensure we will make this happen 💪🏼🔥… I am going to be absolutely fine! Come back a bigger , stronger athlete & as always a much better person… Of course I will be documenting the whole journey on YouTube (1st video live now) to reach and inspire as many people as I possibly can! .. Finally I want to thank my Family , Friends , Coaches , Phyiso, Manager & Girlfriend for being there for me these last few weeks!. Loving me for being me & are all with me every step of the way , I can’t tell you how grateful I am & how much I appreciate you all 💜.. New Chapter.. We’re going to smash it Team 💪🏼🤸🏼‍♂️💜🔥
