Last week, Oleg Verniaiev received his 9th “Athlete of the Month” title from the Ukrainian Olympic Committee. His coach, Gennady Sartinsky, became the Coach of the Month.
In addition, last week Verniaiev received the rank of a junior lieutenant from the Ministry of Defence. The gymnast is officially in the army and had a rank of a sergeant before.
Verniaiev posted a photo with another army athlete, a wrestler Zhan Beleniuk, on his Instagram. The capture quotes the song “Junior Lieutenant” by Irina Allegrova, a popular song about a handsome young officer with whom everyone wants to dance.
