Viktoria Komova abruptly stopped training back in 2018, after she had not been selected for the European Championships team. While she has not officially retired, her last competition was the 2018 Russian Cup. Komova is currently working as a recreational gymnastics coach. Her mother Vera Kolesnikova who won World gold as a part of the USSR team in 1985 is a coach and a judge and it seems that the federation wants Komova to follow that path as well. Valentina Rodionenko told TASS that the federation asked Komova to become a WAG judge:
“We offer all our Merited Masters of Sport and those who were leading gymnasts in the past, who retired already, to start judging. Soon, there will be seminars for judges about the upcoming changes in the rules and we will as everyone to participate in the seminars. I’m also talking about Komova who can be a great judge. We are discussing with her that she should become involved in judging.”
