Rodionenko: No falls on beam is an achievement for us

Valentina Rodionenko praised the Russian team after they won gold in the team final at the European Championships and said to the media that the girls solidified their chances for a spot on the Worlds team:

“Today, our girls didn’t make mistakes anywhere. The only thing was that they looked a bit stiff on bars. But it’s ok, we’ll reach our conclusions. The most important thing was that the team got themselves together and for the first time in many competitions no one had a fall on beam. This for us, of course, is an achievement. The girls understand their responsibility and they prepared mentally very well”.

“We were really worried for Uliana Perebinosova today because she had back issues. But she went out and did her routine no matter what. After the qualification, which didn’t go so well for us, the girls were directed to go out in the final and do what they can do. We didn’t downgrade anyone’s routines”.

“If we’re talking about the future, I want to note that everyone who competed today in the team final, significantly increased their chances of making the Worlds team. They went through a real trial by fire and they’ll push forward”.
