Belgian Rune Hermans has announced her retirement on Instagram. She wrote:
“I’m announcing my retirement from gymnastics. It’s time to start another chapter of my life, with new adventures. I would like to thank everyone who
have supported me throughout my career especially my friends, parentsand coaches for always believing in me, and also my lovely teammates with whom I spent most of my time with and are just wonderful I wish you all the best, love you guys.”
Hermans had a rough year in 2018, trying to juggle gymnastics and academic studies and even missed the European Championships because of that. She still prepared for the World Championships and helped the Belgian team to make the top-24 and qualify to the next Worlds, but, apparently, decided that she can safely retire now that Belgium finally has more seniors.
