Russia announced teams for the competition in Japan

Valentina Rodionenko confirmed to TASS the teams for the upcoming friendly competition in Japan in November. Earlier, Rodionenko reported that Russia has been invited to participate at a friendly competition in Japan, together with Japanese, Chinese, and US teams. According to the Olympic Channel, two weeks ago, the USAG was still deliberating whether to participate. Vasily Titov, the president of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation, also said that Russia’s decision to participate was not final at the time.

However, today, Rodionenko announced that Russian MAG and WAG teams have been decided. On the men’s side, Russia will send Nikita Nagornyy, Artur Dalaloyan, Dmitrii Lankin, and Alexey Rostov. On the women’s side, they’re sending Angelina Melnikova, Liliia Akhaimova, Elena Gerasimova, and Yana Vorona. Both Gerasimova and Vorona are first-year seniors. Gerasimova was on the gold-winning team at the Junior World Championships last year and won individual gold on balance beam. This will be her first senior competition. Vorona was able to participate in two Apparatus World Cups this year.

Russia is currently on the list of red countries, but media report that athletes will be allowed to enter the country and will not be required to undergo a 14-day quarantine.
