Russian gymnasts will skip the upcoming European Championships because of the pandemic but there is a chance we will still see them compete. Valentina Rodionenko announced that national team gymnasts will participate in an internal competition in December instead of Euros:
“We decided to organize a competition on December 22-23 at Round Lake in which all national team gymnasts will participate. Many of them did not have a normal competition experience this year because of the pandemic. This worries us on the eve of the Olympic Games. The medalists will receive awards.”
Some of the national team gymnasts competed at the Friendship and Solidarity competition in Japan and a few went to the Russian Championships but most of the national team haven’t competed in a long time. There is no information yet on whether the competition will be live-streamed.
