While Russian WAG supplied us with a lot of drama last week, when Viktoria Komova did not make the team after not performing well enough at the verification and voiced her unhappiness about it, Russian MAG decided to avoid all the drama and to stick to the nominative team.
According to Valeri Alfosov, the head coach of the MAG program, the team was decided according to the results of the Russian Cup a month before and no changes to the nominative list were expected. Moreover, the coaches do not ever plan on holding a verification as they do not intend on changing the selecting:
“The team decided according to the results of the Russian Cup will not change. Artur Dalaloyan, Dmitrii Lankin, Nikita Nagornyy, David Belyavskiy and Nikolai Kuksenkov will fly to Euros. The flight is scheduled for next Monday and this Thursday a model training will take place. It’s not a verification, it’s a model training, that is, trying to do the events as if they were at a competition”.
As we reported before, Denis Abliazin will miss Euros because Russia wants to test the team for Worlds and Abliazin will miss Worlds in order to try qualifying via Apparatus World Cups.
