Russian team lineups for qualifications revealed

Moving from zero transparency with the team selection, Valentina Rodionenko felt generous today and revealed the lineups for Russian WAG for the qualifications at Worlds.

Although, there were no surprises as we already knew that Mustafina only planned to do bars and beam and this opened an all-around spot for Irina Alexeeva. Rodionenko confirmed this, saying that Angelina Melnikova, Angelina Simakova, and Irina Alexeeva are going to compete on all four events in the qualification. Liliia Akhaimova will do vault and floor to complement Mustafina’s two events.

Regarding the men’s team, Rodionenko confirmed that David Belyavskiy, Nikita Nagornyy, and Artur Dalaloyan will do all four events in the qualification. No surprise here either, as these three are the only all-arounders on the team (Kuksenkov isn’t yet ready to compete AA). She didn’t specify which events Lankin and Kuksenkov will compete in the qualification but it’s likely that Kuksenkov will only do high bar and pommel horse in the prelims, while Lankin will pick up the rest. On the photos from the last team’s verification, Kuksenkov was only showing on two events and Lankin did parallel bars.
