Uliana Perebinosova was one of the somewhat controversial choices for the Russian WAG team for Euros since we haven’t really seen her in a while (she missed the Russian Cup because of a leg injury) and before that consistency was a big issue for her.
However, at Euros Perebinosova delivered both in qualification and in the team final. Her event final performance wasn’t enough for a medal but it was yet again a routine without falls and hopefully, she will later be able to build up on this consistency.
Perebinosova told the media that she’s preparing for Worlds and even learning a second vault. Considering that her coach, Marina Uliankina, also coaches Maria Paseka, Perebinosova could perhaps become a big vaulter, too.
Perebinosova said: “I could perform better today. I was trying hard and I was nervous but you have to learn how to lose, too. Out of the three days here, my best routine was the first one, in qualification. Honestly, I don’t know why I wasn’t able to do the same in the team final and today”.
“I really want to go to Worlds, I’ll be preparing. I plan on doing the all-around. My strongest events are bars and floor and my beam is regular, same as everyone else is doing. On vault, I’m doing a DTY, like everyone, but I’ll start learning a second vault now”.
