Greece’s Vasiliki Millousi has announced a comeback to competitive gymnastics after a four-year hiatus. Millousi retired after the 2018 World Championships because she wanted to have children. Now, this 38-years-old mother of two wants to compete again. For Millousi, this is already a second comeback from retirement. She first competed at the 2000 Olympics but was not selected for the home Olympics in 2004. This led to a retirement but she came back for the 2009-2012 quad and made the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. Millousi’s husband the reigning European rings champion Eleftherios Petrounias is also still an active gymnast. Millousi said on Instagram that she hopes to break the stereotype that moms cannot be elite athletes and her first goal will be the 2023 European Championships.
