Vasiliki Milloussi found her confidence on beam again

Vasiliki Millousi has been known for her elegance on beam for years but in the past few years, she often had falls on this event which prevented her from reaching the finals. This year, in addition to competing for herself on beam, Millousi had an extra task – to support and motivate a young and relatively inexperienced Greek team. Even though her bars routine didn’t go as planned, she was able to stay on the beam and get a score high enough to make the event final.

Q: How did it go today for you?

A: I did two events, bars and beam. I didn’t do my best on bars because something happened on the low bar. And my beam was ok for right now, I hope to get into the final.

Q: You’re the queen of the beam, you’re known for it.

A: I’m not the queen. I think I’m the queen of the falls [laughs].

Q: Well, you didn’t fall today.

A: Yes, today, finally, after years.

Q: How do you deal with setbacks in the competition, how do you get over them?

A: It’s hard, especially since I’m the oldest on the team, so I need to help my teammates to become focused again.

Q: Will you be staying here for the next week to watch Eleftherios Petrounias?

A: No, I can’t stay although I wish I could. I’m pretty confident about him. If he’s ok in terms of his shoulder and neck pain, he’s going to win.
