Biles and Mustafina are on the Stuttgart World Cup roster

FIG announced the roster of the second all-around world cup of the 2019 season – Stuttgart World Cup on March, 16-17 – and it has some big names including two World AA champions – Simone Biles and Aliya Mustafina.

So far, Biles has never competed in World Cups outside of the US. Mustafina participated in the Stuttgart World Cup in 2014 but hasn’t been attending any World Cups since. The last time these two met in an individual all-around was in Rio. Mustafina hasn’t been competing all-around since her injury at the Russian Championships. It is a bit surprising to see her on the roster, since in the past two years Russia mostly relied on sending Angelina Melnikova to these events. Of course, there still might be changes, especially since the Russian Championships are only two weeks before this competition. Other WAG competitors are Anne Padurariu, Lorette Charpy, Hitomi Hatakeda, Carolyne Pedro, Elisabeth Seitz and Pauline Shaeffer. The ninth competitor has not been announced yet.

David Belyavskiy and Sun Wei headline the MAG competition. They will be joined by Akash Modi, Eddy Yusof, Teppei Miwa, Frank Baines, Petro Pakhniuk, Bart Derloo, and Marcel Nguyen. Since German MAG team only placed 10th at the 2018 World Championships, the got only one spot for this competition as the organizers. Interestingly, Oleg Verniaiev who used to be a staple at all-around World Cups is missing the second cup in a row, likely, in order to heal from his shoulder injury.

There will also be the DTB Pokal team challenge on the same dates, however, the participants have not been announced yet.
