Birmingham World Cup has been canceled

Next in the line of events affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic is the Birmingham World Cup which was supposed to take place on March 28th. This cancellation followed the cancellation of the Stuttgart World Cup, the postponement of the Doha World Cup, and the abrupt cancellation of the finals at the Baku World Cup. This also effectively means that the 2020 All-Around World Cups Series is canceled (especially since it is not likely the Tokyo World Cup will take place, although there has been no official news yet) and that it cannot be used as one of the Olympic qualifiers. The FIG has not yet clarified their rules regarding the redistribution of the Olympics spots following the cancellation of the series.

The British Artistic Gymnastics Championships on April 16-19 have also been canceled. Meanwhile, the Russian Championships are still slated to start this week and, if they indeed take place, might be the last major elite artistic gymnastics competition for a prolonged period of time.
