Louise Vanhille retires from competitive gymnastics

By Mari Ilona Szutenberg

French gymnast Louise Vanhille announced this weekend at the Pole Sainté Gym competition that she would be retiring from elite gymnastics.

The 20-year-old has been a strong member of the French national team over the past few years, competing at European and World championships as well as at the Rio Olympics, where she finished 21st in the AA competition.
She will not be leaving her acrobatic prowess behind her, as she is joining the Cirque du Soleil troupe as a performer.
When the news was announced in St Étienne, the Charpy sisters serenaded Vanhille with the classic song “Ne me quitte pas”.
