Irina Alexeeva who competed today in her first senior competition in Russia said that being on the same team with Komova and Mustafina is her dream. Alexeeva’s dream might come true very soon as Valentina Rodionenko stated that the gymnast might be added to the national team this year.
Alexeeva told TASS about leaving for US and dreaming of competing for Russia:
“Why I moved to US when I was little? My parents decided to move there. But the issue of new citizenship wasn’t getting solved. And when I was offered to come back to my home country and compete at the Russian Championships, I gladly agreed. I want to have a competitive future in Russia and if I will be able to make the national team, I’ll be very happy. I’m delighted that today I competed on the same floor as Aliya Mustafina and Viktoria Komova, I was a big fan of them when I was very little. To compete with them on the same team at international competitions is my dream”.
