Anastasia Bachynska came to the European Games as one of the all-around after her fifth place at Euros, especially considering that out of the four people who placed higher than her in the AA final, only Angelina Melnikova was competing at the Games. Bachynska had a strong start in the qualification, finishing 4th there, but a nervous performance in the final left her only in the 14th place. She said it was quite hard to get into the right mindset for the event finals after what happened in the all-around, but she managed to win gold in the floor final:
“I tried to do my routine cleanly. Not everything worked but I’m happy with my result and this gold medal. After yesterday’s failure in the all-around, it was hard to get myself together and get it all off my mind. I’m glad I managed to do it. I competed second in the final and then waited to see how the other competitors would perform. I thought that, perhaps, finally, I’d get gold. When I realized I won, I wanted to run, to scream, to jump. It was a weird feeling. I’m really happy that the Ukrainian flag was raised and the anthem was played because of me. I’ll try to achieve it more often. Now, I need to prepare for the World Championships, to upgrade my routines in order to get to the Olympics.”
