Denis Abliazin posted training videos

Denis Abliazin had fractures in both his legs last month but still hopes to be ready for the Tokyo Olympics. He posted several videos on Instagram documenting his first training sessions after the surgeries. In the videos, Abliazin is working on upper body strength as he is not yet allowed to put any weight on his legs.

Abliazin talked to a local radio station about his training process:

“It’s just conditioning of the upper shoulder area. That is, without using legs or anything, because I still can’t put any load on my legs. It’s a bit hard, of course, after the break, but it’s generally ok. I think I’ll get used to it fast. After the 20th of December it will be clear whether I’ll be allowed to walk without crutches and do any leg exercises or I’ll have to wait until February to start leg conditioning.”

  • I’m sorry Abliazin, but this is more than conditioning of the upper shoulder area. This is a complete conditioning of the upper body.
I wonder if this is an incorrect translation, or he does not have the slightest idea of what he is doing.

    • He specifically said upper shoulder area and that was what I translated. In the article I said ‘upper body’, but the quote was left as is
