Anastasia Ilyankova was included on the nominative Russian team for Worlds, however, she had to miss some training because of a back injury. On Saturday, Valentina Rodionenko said that Ilyankova is feeling better and that the national team management still wants to take her to Montreal. However, it still can change and the final decision will be made on Friday, September 22nd. The team will only fly to Montreal on September 27th.
Rodionenko said to R-Sport today:
“Everything’s still unchanged, we’re waiting to see how it goes, we still have time. She [Ilyankova] has already started training again, doing elements a bit, we’ll see. Of course, we would want to try her out at these Worlds, to show her, she’s a medal contender on bars. We’d like that, but everything will depend on her condition, we can’t risk it. I think everything will be decided by Friday.”
