Jonna Adlerteg: I’m happy with my routine

For Jonna Adlerteg, this year’s Euros are a very important competition since she’s coming back from an injury and trying to get the feel of the field again and see how her bars stack up against the competition. Yesterday, she was the very first competitor on bars in the very first subdivision, so she had a whole day to wait until it would be clear whether she would make the bars final. And yet, Adlerteg’s score was the highest of the day while other bars specialists made mistakes and weren’t able to reach her 14.600. We talked to Jonna after the first subdivision when she didn’t yet know whether her score would be enough for the event final.

Q: How do you think you did today?

A: I’m happy that I did my routine, it was still messy, I was quite nervous. I think the score was fair. I was concerned that maybe being first up in the first subdivision would make the scores lower but I think this was fair. So, hopefully, it will be a fair competition for everyone. I hope I’ll make the final.

Q: And who would be your main rivals on bars?

A: Of course, Nina, she’s just looking so good. And the German girls, I think, then the GB girls and Ukraine, and Russia, of course. There are a lot of good bars workers but we’ll see.

Q: Are you nervous for the next subdivisions? You’ll have to wait the whole day now before you learn if you made the final.

A: No, I think I’ve been nervous enough.

Q: And you want to return to all-around after that or just bars?

A: Yes, I want to return to the all-around for the next year, for Worlds.

Q: So, do you plan on qualifying via the all-around spots at Worlds or will you go to the Apparatus World Cups?

A: I’m going to try everything [laughs], so I’ll do both.

Q: Are you planning any upgrades on bars or right now this is the routine that you’ll keep doing?

A: I have some upgrades but for now, this is the routine.

Q: And what elements are you learning for possible upgrades?

A: I had the layout Jaeger before and I’ve also been working on Pac salt to Shaposhnikova but for now what I did here is the routine for me.
